40th Anniversary Celebration

PUCS is celebrating 40 years of ministry!

PUCS was founded in 1981 with a focus on providing a quality Christian education to a diverse group of students within an urban setting. The first kindergarten class of six students laid the foundation for the elementary school. Now, 40 years later, PUCS has students from PreK through 8th grade! Our Middle School at 813 South Avenue opened in 2019 in the former Wilkinsburg Boys & Girls Club Building. That move opened up even more space for PUCS to continue its expansion and begin offering Preschool classes.

It’s an exciting time at PUCS. Join us as we celebrate 40 years of ministry.

40th Anniversary Events:

Celebrating the Present…

On Wednesday, October 27th, the day before the 40th day of the school year, the students enjoyed a special chapel time, celebrating the significance of our 40th Anniversary!

The Chapel Speaker was PUCS Alum, Lucca Spence, a current Junior at The University of Pittsburgh. Lucca shared a message about the importance of Identity as a Child of God, based on 1 John 3:1-3 and 1 John 4:7-12. The Kindergarten Class led everyone in singing “This is the Day,” and the 4th & 5th graders led “Leaning on the Everlasting Arms.”

On Thursday, October 28th, a special Kickoff Breakfast was held in the Outdoor Classroom with invited guests, including some of the PUCS founders. The program included testimonials from a PUCS parent and a PUCS alum, as well as a dove release. The 8th Graders performed “Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing” for those gathered.

We are currently planning a Spring Celebration! Stay tuned for details.
