Each day, our first graders get to explore the world around them. A typical day includes the following activities:

Morning Meeting

During morning meeting students greet each other and share their experiences with a prompt (for example – tell about a pet that you have or would like to have). A morning message tells about the day and/or reviews teaching from the previous day.

Reading and Writer’s Workshop

The reading program integrates phonics, handwriting, spelling, and language arts. A key component is oral reading in small groups, partners, and individually with the teacher. Writer’s Workshop follows mini lessons that spend a lot of time writing and illustrating books.
